Joel Vernon Brooks, age 91 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born November 16, 1928, in Monticello, AR to the late Carse Brooks and Marie McDaniel Brooks.

He was retired from Burlington Industries and Walmart, a United States Air Force Veteran of World War II, member of the American Legion and a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one great-granddaughter, Katherine.

Survivors include one son, Robert Brooks and spouse Kimmy of Spring Hill, TN; two daughters, Elizabeth Brooks and Sheila Brooks, both of Ft. Wayne, IN; two grandchildren, Theresa Sanders and Elizabeth Philipp; five great-grandchildren, Amber, Cassidy, Maddison, Ville and Lydia; one great-great grandson, Mason; several cousins; and his friend and caregiver, John Stewart of Monticello.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2020 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Military Honors. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
