Ila Jo Miller Young, age 82 of Monticello, passed away Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born May 20, 1937, in Rison, AR to the late Joseph Lee Miller and Grace Lee Harrison Miller.
She was the widow of her husband of 51 years, Gynn Rawls Young, retired from Burlington Industries the shipping distribution manager for the three plants at Monticello after 40 years of dedicated service. She loved her job and her fellow employees very much and was of the Baptist faith. She was a 1957 graduate of Selma High School, a basketball star scoring over 50 points in one game and graduated top of her class. Both Ila and Gynn devoted their time to providing their three daughters with a loving and stable home.
Her hobbies include reading, camping with the Rawls family, shopping, sewing, as well as going to the beach. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Shirley Miller Barnett and Erma Miller Dodson; and one brother, William (Bill) Harrison.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Lynn Young Henry and husband Pat of Hope, Gwendolyn Jo Young Jolin of Buchannan, VA and Audrey Lynell Young Dintelman and husband Jim of Monticello; five grandchildren, Michael Henry and wife Meghan of Sherwood, Hunter Henry of Fayetteville, Jonathan Trent Jolin of Fayetteville, NC, Tyler Gynn Jolin of Buchannan, VA, and Heather Nicolle Ellis of Monticello; one great-grandchild, Ryan Colby Lee Griffith of Monticello whom she cherished and received much comfort. He knew her affectionately as "Joey".
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 6, 2020, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
