Dora "Penny" Yawn James, age 80 of Monticello, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020 at her home. She was born May 2, 1939 in De Ridder, LA to the late Fred Yawn and Ruby Stephenson Yawn.
She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church of Monticello. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She loved the Lord, her church family and was very devoted to her faith, family and friends. Penny was selfless and always put her family and extended family above all. She was very adored by her husband's family as well and loved them deeply. One of her best attributes was her love and loyalty for her husband, always supporting him in all of his endeavors. She was greatly loved and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a sister, Glorene Foster.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Stephen "Steve" James of Monticello; two daughters, Tammy Sullivan and husband Steve and Rhonda Findley all of Monticello; one sister, Naomi Paine of Lake Charles, LA; seven grandchildren, Jason Barnes and wife Paige, Jeremy Montgomery and wife Katie, Michael Findley, Toni McFerrin and husband Collin, Stephen Findley, Jenni Taylor and husband Aaron, and Ashley Taylor and husband Jesse; eleven great-grandchildren, Alora, Brook, Jalyn, Avery, Kade, Jon Collin, Jake, Jon Allen, Morgan, Liam, Chason, and an expected one due in July, Jackson Danger.
Funeral service was held 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home.
