Betty Jane Andrews Davis, age 90 of Monticello, went to be with her Lord Saturday, June 6, 2020, at her home. She was born May 20, 1930, in Monticello, AR to the late J.C. Andrews and Maymie Moore Andrews.
She was the widow of Troy Davis, a retired Monticello second grade school teacher with 37 years of service and a member of First Baptist Church. Mrs. Betty enjoyed taking care of her loved ones. She was an excellent cook and loved cooking for her family. She also loved to travel and was always ready to go at any time. She was a graduate of Drew Central High School and Arkansas A&M University (now the University of Arkansas at Monticello) and was also a former Miss Drew County having won the title in 1947. Betty was very respected among her family and friends. After she and Troy were married, she became the matriarch of the Davis family due to the respect and trust they had for her.
Survivors include two sons, Kent Davis and wife Felicia of Maumelle and Andy Davis and wife April of Fayetteville; five grandchildren, Mandy Troph, Stephanie Houston, Katie Davis Green, Day Davis and Annsley Davis; and three great grandchildren, Lillie Kate Green, Kale Houston and Fallon Houston. The family would like to issue a special "thank you" to her caregivers, Takendra, Shirley, Rykiel, Lola and Teresa for the excellent care they gave Mrs. Betty.
Funeral service will be 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Rev. Billy Gene West officiating. There will be a visitation one hour preceding service time in the chapel. COVID-19 protocol will be followed with no more than 50 people in the facility. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's of Arkansas, Hospice Home Care or The UAM Troy and Betty Davis Scholarship Fund. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
