Alvin William Jordan
October 5, 1935 - December 17, 2020

Alvin William Jordan, age 85 of Monticello, went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, December 17, 2020, at St. Vincent Hospital in Little Rock, AR. He was born October 5, 1935, in Monticello, AR to the late Jack E. Jordan, Sr. and Maude Boone Jordan.

He retired from Georgia Pacific in 1985 before working for Hood Packaging where he retired in 1998. He was a 1953 graduate of Drew Central Schools and a longtime member of Shady Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for 42 years and taught Sunday School for several years. Mr. Alvin was inducted into the Drew Central Hall of Fame Class of 2019.

Mr. Alvin's hobbies included quail hunting, gardening, playing dominoes, attending Drew Central basketball games, and watching his favorite baseball team, the St Louis Cardinals. However, his greatest joy was spending time with and spoiling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Adrian Jordan, Bobby Jordan, and Gary Jordan; two sisters, Jewel Hargis and Lela Gavin; and a daughter, Kathy Jordan Martin.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marie Loveless Jordan of Monticello; two sons, Paul Jordan and wife Connie of Crossett and David Jordan and wife Stacy of Conway; one daughter, Annette Jordan Watson and husband Kenny of Selma; two brothers, Jack Jordan, Jr. and wife Jane of Monticello and Danny Ray Jordan (Glynda) of Monticello; one sister, Shelby Lynn Williams of Monticello; a son-in-law, Ricky Martin and wife Amber of Saltillo, MS; grandchildren, Joshua Martin (Ashley) and Jeremy Martin (Magen) of Crossett, C.J. Watson (Sara) of Monticello, Ryan Watson (Lindsey) of Selma, Jane Marie Austin (Dan) of Paragould, Courtney Zulpo (Alex) of Kansas City, MO, and Macy Jordan of Conway; great grandchildren, Jordan Watson (Lane) and William Watson of Monticello, Tanner, Talin and Tynlee Watson of Selma, Caleb Martin, Brody Martin, Maggie Martin, Rushing Martin, Karis Martin all of Crossett, and Bethany Austin of Paragould; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services following Covid-19 guidelines will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. David Jacks officiating. There will be a visitation one hour preceding the service at the church. Burial will be in Union Ridge Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
