Kay Sawyer Crook, age 72 of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at Belle View Nursing and Rehab in Monticello, Arkansas. She was born September 23, 1948, in Monticello, AR to the late Godfrey and Dovie Creighton Sawyer. She was employed at Burlington Industries and retired from the University of Arkansas at Monticello as a library worker. She was a faithful member of the Monticello Church of Christ where she loved the congregation dearly. She had many hobbies which included her Branson trips with Gary, her flowers and making wonderful peanut brittle. Kay is preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Reba Scogin and Barbara Forrest; one brother, Greg Sawyer. She is survived by her husband Gary Crook of Monticello; sister, Janice Sawyer of Houston, Arkansas; brother, Walton Sawyer, Sr. of Monticello; sister in law, Kathryn Crook Burton and husband Kenneth of Monticello; numerous nieces and nephews, Brett Burton and wife Rene, Samantha Burton Hewitt and husband Jimmy, Norman Scogin and wife Gail, Anita Forrest Stafford and husband Charles, Benita Forrest, Pam McDougald, Deanna Lassiter, Jonathon Forrest, Walton Edward Sawyer, Jr., Melissa Sawyer, Creighton Sawyer and wife Kayla; as well as many more great nieces and nephews that she treasured greatly. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 10, 2021, at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Paul Mowrer officiating. Visitation will be Friday, April 9, 2021 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Relay for Life and Monticello Church of Christ.
