James Harwood Youngblood
November 7, 1937 - June 3, 2021

James Harwood Youngblood, age 83, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born November 7, 1937, in Florence, AR to the late Gilford Arthur Youngblood and Jennie Elizabeth Pittman Youngblood. He was a member of Pauline Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher for many years. James was a Christian role model for his family, whom he loved dearly and they did in return. He was retired from the United States Postal Service and a veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Birch.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gladys Mitchell Youngblood of Monticello; his son, Stan Youngblood (Jo Lynne) of Springdale; his daughter, Susan Thomasson (Will) of Monticello. He was also “GiGi” to his grandchildren Jim Youngblood (Leah) of McGehee, Caroline Youngblood of Little Rock, Beth Staten (Tyler) of Monticello, Cameron Walker (Matthew) of Little Rock, and Bill Thomasson of Monticello; and three great-granddaughters, Palmer, Collins, and Charlotte. Also, many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, who each held a special place in his heart.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Stephenson – Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello with Bro. Larry Clements and Bro Robert Leonard officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour before. Burial in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Memorials may be made to Pauline Missionary Baptist Church.

Pallbearers are Stan Youngblood, Will Thomasson, Bill Thomasson, Tyler Staten, Jim Youngblood, and Matthew Walker.

Honorary pallbearers are Bro. Buddy Lemons and Dr. Jeff Reinhart.
