Thomas Wayne Chane, 72, of Mexia, passed away Monday August 30, 2021 in Waco, Tx. Visitation will be Thursday September 2, 2021 at Bellmead Funeral Home from 6-8 pm. Graveside service will be held 10 am, Friday September 3, 2021 at the Chane Residence (1720 W.Hwy 84) in Mexia, TX. with Jake Hershey officiating. Thomas was born on Febuary 7,1949 in Marlin, TX. to Thomas (Hebe) Chane & Dorothy Capps Chane.
Thomas attended school at LaVega ISD until he decided that being a cowboy was more important. In his younger days he tried his hand in many different events, and found that calf roping was his talent, he then spent the next 45 years chasing his dream. He was a member of the RCA which later became known as the PRCA, in his later years he was a member of the Oldtimers Rodeo Association. Thomas traveled all over the country rodeoing, finally settling down doing his favorite thing, being “Pa” and raising chickens.
Thomas is proceeded in death by his father Thomas (Hebe) Chane, Mother and Stepfather Dorothy & Jack Hall, and brother Ronald Hall. Thomas is survived by his wife of 54 years Janette Keel Chane, Son Troy Chane & Amanda, Daughter Jennifer Grabs & Husband Mark, Son Byron Dixon & Olga, Sister Diane Chane, and Brother Donald Hall. Grandchildren Branson Dixon, Colton Grabs, Makayla Grabs, and the light of his life Kynlee Grabs, along with a host of nieces and nephews and special friends.
