Rev. Edward Earl Wyers, affectionately known as Brother Ed, age 73 of Sherwood, went to be with his Lord and Savior Friday, September 17, 2021, at Southern Trace Nursing Home in Bryant, AR. He was born February 8, 1948, in Brilliant, AR to the late James Edgar Wyers and Elsie Mae Bryan Wyers. He was a retired United Methodist Minister and United States Navy Veteran. Brother Ed enjoyed playing the piano, reading (a big Stephen King fan), traveling (especially to New Orleans, his favorite city) and studying genealogy. He had a Masters Degree in Divinity from the Memphis Theological Seminary. He also cherished spending time with his grandchildren, spending time at the UMCOR Sager-Brown Depot in Baldwin, LA and was a movie buff who had a soft spot for silly comedies (Talladega Nights was a recent favorite). In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife, Linda Faye Noblett Wyers; a brother, James Rufus Wyers; and three sisters, Bobbie Nell Paustian, Eddie Mae Dotson and Betty Rose Wyers. He is survived by two sons, J. Micah Wyers and wife Michelle and Mark Edward Wyers; four grandchildren, Ben, Ethan, Madilyn and Maxwell; and a brother, Junior Lee Wyers. Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2021, at First United Methodist Church in Monticello with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. There will be a visitation one hour preceding the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorials are preferred to UMCOR Sager-Brown Depot.
