Welcome

Atley Johnson, Jr.
June 4, 1944 - September 28, 2021

Atley Johnson Jr. was born on June 4,1944, in Chicago, Illinois to the parental stewardship of Atley and Hazel Johnson.
Reared under the umbrella of Christian inspiration, faith, and influence, he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior at Johnnie Coleman Church in Chicago, Illinois.
Atley received his education in the school system of Chicago, Illinois and after graduation, he pursued a professional career as a Beauty Operator Owner and professional hairstylist. He was progressive in his career, traveling across the state performing exceptional runway experiences for all to see. Atley made the decision to retire early, and relocate to Monticello, AR to be closer to his mother Hazel Johnson. During his retirement years in addition to being available to his mother, he made the decision to return to school to receive his CDL license. Atley wanted to travel the countryside looking out the window to see the world from a different point of view. During his journey of traveling the road, he was able to have a quiet clear place to meditate, reflect, and acknowledge his true path.
He attended church at Mt. Table Baptist Church in Wilmar, AR. Under the stewardship of the late Reverend Floyd Daniels, Atley felt the spirit within, and moved forward with studying to become an ordained pastor. He continued to live his life sharing the gospel to family, friends, and the community. Atley was passionate about his faith and encouraged others to accept the Lord and Savior in their life.
Atley held the position of Associate pastor at Mt.Table Baptist Church in Wilmar AR, where he was able to reach lives from behind the pulpit. His first sermon was A Servant of God, focusing on the book of Acts 16.
Resigned to the retired years of life, and enjoying what he loved most, he met his wife Mary Diane Orr. Atley and Diane were married and joined together on October 26, 2004.
Atley, a resilient spirit, spent his spare time being a caretaker for those he loved, and driving the school bus for Drew Central School District. Most of all Atley loved the sport of bowling. He was an exceptional bowler with a perfect score at times, leading his league in several tournaments. How excited he would be to talk about his passions in life!
A man with an infectious smile, calm demeanor and generous heart, Atley was a loving son, husband, father, brother, friend, companion, and confidant.
Atley fought a good fight and dedicated his life to completing the Lord's will for his life.
Tuesday September 28,2021, the Lord called Atley Johnson Jr to his eternal resting place in Heaven.
Among those who remain to cherish his memory are: his mother Hazel Johnson, wife Mary Diane Johnson of Arkansas: brother’s Michael Johnson and half brother Howard Johnson of Chicago Illinois; sister Vanessa Eiland; 2 sons: Atley III, Andre’ Johnson of Chicago Illinois, 2 step son’s Patrick and Jeremy of Arkansas; 3 daughters: Antoinette Willis, Vicky Stutts, Erika Johnson of Chicago Illinois, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family relatives, and friends who loved him dearly.
A private family memorial will be held at a later date.
