Emma Janice Trotter Carr, age 82 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2022, at her home. She was born March 5, 1940, in Selma, AR to the late K.D. Trotter and Gertrude Shepherd Trotter. She was a retired educator where she mastered many career fields but her love for children led her to transition from being a Nanny to becoming a Special Education Parapro for the Wichita Public School District in Wichita, KS. After retiring from the school district in 2002, she took her love of children to Tocoma, WA where she opened an at home Daycare Center. She soon found joy in caring for foster children. After caring for numerous children in the eight years as a foster parent, she decided to fully retire in 2011. Some of those children kept in close contact with her throughout the years. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Bryant; two brothers, John Trotter, Sr. and Albert Trotter, Sr.; and four sisters, Azzie Munson, Wanda Carruthers, Bettye Simpson and Mary Simpson. She is survived by three sons, Charles Carr, Jr. of Monticello, Anthony (Kia) Carr of Charlotte, NC and Brian Carr of Wichita, KS; three sisters, Vertie Pettiford of Garland, TX, Ola Simmons (Lorenza) of Monticello, and Florine Moore of Monticello; four brothers, Karon Trotter, Jr. (Yvette) of Monticello, Rev. Dejuan Trotter (Lisa) of White Hall, Gerald Canada (Hilda) of Bryant and Kerwin Coleman (Cynthia) of Monticello; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, at Trinity Full Gospel Church with burial in Oakland Cemetery. There will be a wake from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. You can sign Mrs. Emma’s guestbook page at www.stephensondearman.com.
