Thomas Nichols Berry, age 85, of Pine Bluff, Arkansas passed away peacefully at his home. Thomas was born May 22, 1937, in Monticello, Arkansas to the late Jesse Lee Berry and Mabel Nichols Berry. He graduated from Arkansas A & M, now known as UAM, and went on to Auburn University for his post-graduate work. He was a veteran of the United States Army. Thomas was a coach and teacher for 28 years at Watson Chapel and Dollarway School Districts from 1966 to 1994. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church in Pine Bluff, AR. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Thomas loved horse racing, making his last winning bet two days before his passing. He enjoyed cooking, specifically smoking boston butts, and was nicknamed “Pork Butt Berry” by his coworkers at McFarland Eye Centers where he worked as a van driver for 12 years after retiring from coaching and teaching. In addition to his parents, Thomas is preceded in death by nephews Bryan Tindall and Marty Tindall. He is survived by his wife, Karen Sue Magie Berry whom he married November 23, 1974; daughters, Nicole Berry and Heather Berry; grandchildren, Taylor (Ashlyn) Smithwick, Jaben (Brittney) Tidwell, Madison Stuckey, and Cole Hendricks; great-grandchildren, Jaben Jr., Azalee, Jadis, and Loki; and sister, Benetta Tindall. The service officiated by the Reverend C.B Baker will be Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 703 W. 3rd Street, Pine Bluff, AR 71601. A special gratitude is extended to those who checked on him and kept him company at home over the last few years, especially Renee Harris Parks and the nurses and staff of Saline Memorial Hospice.
