Anthony Laurel Thomas aka Tony to family, and "Tone Loc" to friends, was born on May 29, 1961, to Gladys Mae Oliver Thomas and John Henry Thomas in Detroit, Michigan. Tony grew up in Detroit and Toledo, Ohio. Anthony Thomas and his other siblings moved to Monticello, Arkansas where he finished high school. After high school, he attended Job Corp where he met and married Elain, and to this union, he had two daughters, Brandy and Ebony Thomas. Tony later went on and entered the U.S. Army where he completed four years of service. After his service, he returned to Monticello where he made his home. Tony held various jobs in Monticello and other small towns as well. To know Tony was to love him, he never met a stranger. Tony was there to help any and everybody. He was always smiling, laughing, and joking with everyone he came in contact with. He loved and cared deeply about his family. He was always "Uncle Tony" to everybody and he will be loved and missed. He departed from his earthly home on December 31, 2022. He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Ebony Thomas. He leaves to cherish his memories, one daughter, Brandy Thomas; two brothers, Craig Thomas and Frank Powell; three grandsons, Andrez, Christopher, and Shawn of Florida; his siblings, Marion Thomas, Charles Thomas (Andrea), Robert Thomas, and Carnell Thomas, all of Monticello; a special friend, Aretha Tate of Monticello; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, January 7, 2023, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Funeral services will be Sunday, January 8, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel.
