Carole Kay Jobe Bulloch, 80, of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born in Fort Worth, Texas, on December 4, 1942. She grew up in Ballinger, Texas playing at her dad’s wool and mohair shearing business. She graduated from Ballinger High School, after which she attended Texas Tech University, graduating in 1964, with a BBA in Marketing and Economics. While attending college, she was chosen Miss Austin Aqua Beauty.

She married William C. “Bud” Bulloch on August 26, 1967. When they lived in Dallas, she worked as a sales representative for Clairol and later as a sales consultant and director of Mary Kay Cosmetics. She loved Mary Kay Cosmetics and was always so well put together and beautiful . After they moved to Monticello, Arkansas, she owned The Christmas Shop, where she sold Christmas ornaments and her handmade jewelry. She participated each year in bazaars in the area as well, always enjoying visiting with those who shopped.

Always interested in politics, government, and community, Carole felt called to be involved in any way she could to possibly make a difference. From 1988-1998, she was a member of the Monticello School Board, one of the first women to serve in that capacity. She also served as President two of those years. She was a lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary, as well as a member of the First Baptist Church. In the late 1980’s, she joined the Arkansas Travelers for the Clinton Presidential campaign and was an active member of the Democratic Women of Arkansas for 35 years. From 2003-2022, she served as Justice of the Peace, District 4, for the Drew County Quorum Court. Not only was Carole on the Drew County Quorum Court, she was appointed to the State Quorum Court Executive Committee where she served as secretary for 8 years. In 2008, Governor Beebe appointed her to the Mississippi River Parkway Commission.

Carole was preceded in death by her late parents, Clara Mae and Alden James Thorp, of Ballinger, Texas. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years William “Bud” Bulloch. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth (Scott Burnett) of Collins, Arkansas, and Sarah Bulloch of Tyler, Texas; her three granddaughters, Montre Burnett, Clara Bulloch, and Grace Burnett; and her beloved dog, Lady.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2023, at First Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Graham officiating. Burial will be in Collins Cemetery.
