Randy Maurice Gavin, 74 years old, of Monticello, AR passed away Wednesday, May 31st at his home after a long hard fight with cancer, he was surrounded by his wife Jennifer, and his kids Heath and Cassidy. He was born September 29th, 1948, in Warren, AR to Juanita Gavin and the late Maurice Gavin. He is preceded in death by his daddy, Maurice Gavin, his favorite Aunt, Pat Gavin, and too many friends to name. Randy graduated from Woodlawn High School and served in the United States Navy. He was very proud to be a Veteran and was a long-standing member of VFW Post #4515 and American Legion Post #2. Being very active in these two organizations, Randy held various offices until his health became an issue. He retired from International Paper Company after working in maintenance for 35 years. Randy loved to fish, watch football, do yard work, and tend his plants, spending time at his place on Connerly Bayou, spending time with his kids and those grandbabies, one of which was named after him. Randy’s all-time favorite thing was to just hang out with his wife, Jennifer, whom he affectionately referred to as his “bride”. Randy and Jennifer spent almost 33 years together and most of that time if you saw one you saw the other. They did not like being apart from each other at all. If you know them, then you know they had that true love, that thing, the sweetest kind of love, the love not everyone finds in life, but they did and had a beautiful love story. Randy leaves to cherish his memory his wife Jennifer Gavin; his children Heath Loveless and Cassidy Gavin Sanders; son-in-law Michael Sanders; Shannon Gavin; Keri and Seth Evans; his grandchildren Autumn and Blake Finney, Noah Gavin, Layla, Emmit and Lydia Evans, Randy and Samuel Sanders; two great “grands” John Luke and Logan Finney; his mother, Juanita Gavin, whom he loved dearly; brothers, Dennis and Floyd Gavin, and his sister, Cathy Gavin Phillips; three Honorary granddaughters, Micah Montgomery “MLJNDHM”, Annslee Roberts "that Robert’s girl or Babycakes”, and Charley Ella Cameron “Girlfriend”, great Aunt DD “Delores”; many nieces and nephews; cousins and friends; a whole slew of boys and girls from their in-home day-care that knew him best as either “Uncle” or “Papaw”; finally, his best furry friend, Pippa, his puppy dog. A special thanks to Dr. Tim Simon, Dr. Lance Burns, Dr. Abid Mohiuddin, a very special nurse, Trisha Cartwright, and all those sweet, sweet people from Hospice Home Care. Any memorials in his name can be sent to VFW Post 4515 American Legion Post#2 148 Veterans Drive Monticello AR Visitation will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, June 7, 2023, in Oakland Cemetery, in Monticello, AR. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Heath Loveless. A Celebration of Life will follow the graveside at Jennifer and Randy’s Home, 721 Sycamore Street, Monticello.
