James Clifton, Sr. was born on September 18, 1929, to the late Henry and Norma (Daniel) Clifton in Wilmar, Arkansas. He transitioned to be with his heavenly father on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at his home. James attended Wilmar School in Wilmar Arkansas. He also was a member of Holy Divine Spiritual Church in Lacey, AR under the leadership of the late Elder Elmer Fuller and Bishop Willie Ann Finley. James was first united in matrimony to Dorothy Webb and to this union came two children. He then wed Eupharzine (Wells) Clifton on February 29, 1956. They were married for 66 years. James started his working career at a young age in the logging industry with his brothers. If it had anything to do with pulpwood then James was your guy. He also had a love for farming with his wife and son. He spent his summers planting and selling tomatoes at the local tomato sheds and raising cattle. He also loved to fish with his family and riding in his pickup truck. James was a simple guy that loved simple things. James is preceded in death by his wife, Eupharzine Clifton; two sons James Clifton, Jr. and Wallace Clifton; and siblings, Laron Clifton, Lloyd Clifton, Agrone Clifton, Helen (Clifton) Gardner, Maureen (Clifton) McKinley, and Elnor Rose Gray. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Bertha Harrison of Milwaukee, WI; daughter-in-law, Peggy Clifton of Monticello, AR; his grandchildren, Essica Clifton of North Little Rock, AR, Derrick Clifton of Monticello, AR, James Harrison and Randle Harrison both of Milwaukee, WI and Teasha Barber of Atlanta, GA; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with burial in Turner Hill Cemetery, Wilmar, Arkansas. There will be a visitation from 12:30-1:00 p.m. preceding the funeral service at the funeral home. You can sign James’ guestbook page at www.stephensondearman.com.
