Magnolia Junior Wells was born August 25, 1943, at the home place in Monticello, Arkansas on Hwy 425 North. She was one of two children born to the late Annie Mae Matthews and Terrell Junior. Magnolia Wells departed this life on September 9, 2023, at the age of 80 at Belle View Estates Rehabilitation and Care Center. Magnolia gave her life to Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of Brooks Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Spinks until her health declined. Magnolia was very loving. She was a 1961 Drew High School graduate. She really enjoyed cooking, laughing, and joking with her classmates. She said, “what she meant” and she “meant what she said”. She really enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and just having a good ole-fashioned time. She had a very special bond with her daughter-in-laws: Brenda and Subrina. To the union of Mack Ray Dunlap and Magnolia Dunlap, four children were born; Joyce Marie Brown, Kenneth Ray Dunlap, Michael Dunlap, and Tony Dunlap. Magnolia was employed at Burlington Industries for many years and also spent several years working at The Workforce Center. Magnolia was a very hard-working woman who loved to dress to impress. Magnolia was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, Dan Perry; husband, Wilson Eugene Wells; a brother, Sylvester Junior; one sister-in-law, Mary Ann; a daughter, Joyce Marie Brown; two sons, Kenny Ray Dunlap and Tony LaRay Dunlap; a special granddaughter, Felicia Brown; a special aunt, Leona Matthews Goodman; one additional aunt, Hettie Mae Matthews Vincent; and five uncles, J.W. Matthews, Clarance Matthews, C.L. Matthews, Jessie Matthews, and Horace Matthews. She leaves to cherish her memories, one son, Michael Dunlap Sr. (Brenda); her daughter-in-law, Sabrina Dunlap; one stepson, Larry D. Wells of Colorado Springs, CO; her grandchildren, Lecroyce Brown, Angela Brown, Tekele “Keke” Kennedy, Kenneth Ray Dunlap Jr., Cedric Dunlap, Michael Dunlap Jr, and LaCandis Esaw; seven great-grandchildren; along with several nieces, nephews, friends, the Dunlap Family, church members, cousins, and two special classmates, Mary Jean Washinton and Jerry Ann Smith; as well as some good ole girlfriends, Margaret Ridgell, Shirley Greene, and Herdicine Meadows. Visitation will be on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Burial will follow in Campground/Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Monticello, Arkansas.
