Donald Ray “Pete” Burton, age 67 of Monticello, passed away Thursday, October 19, 2023, at his home. He was born May 15, 1956, in Star City, AR to Roma Gene Burton and the late Inez Lee Burton.
He was a self-employed entrepreneur, United States Marine Veteran and a Baptist. Pete enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on cars and watching car shows. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Ronnie Burton.
Survivors include his wife, Lavera Goad Burton of Monticello; one son, Lee Sanson of California; one daughter, Katrina Sidwell of Star City; his father, Roma Gene Burton of Monticello; one sister, Mary Miller of Monticello; four grandchildren, Lauren Lopez, Sydney Loveless, Jonathan Loveless and Braley Ann Sanson; a special friend, Billy Pace; along with a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Dwayne Roper officiating. There will be a visitation from 2:00-3:00 p.m. preceding the funeral service at the funeral home. You can sign Pete’s guestbook page on this website.
