Buddy Barnes, Jr., age 78 of Monticello, formerly of Hamburg, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, in Monticello, AR. He was born September 29, 1945, in Redding, CA to the late Claude Barnes and Bernice Adair Barnes. He was an auto salesman for some forty years working at Murphy Ford in Hamburg before retiring from Ryburn Motor Company in Monticello. Buddy was a 1963 graduate of Hamburg High School and a 1967 graduate of Arkansas A&M College (now UAM). He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Eureka Lodge #40, a United States Army Veteran, loved to deer hunt and spend time with his wife, family and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Lela Faye Summers; and a special aunt and uncle, Agnes and Thomas Adair. He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Maxwell Barnes of Monticello; daughter, Melissa K. Kinnaird and husband Chuck of Fountain Hill; one sister, Frankie Jo Sumner and brother-in-law, J.P. Sumner of Searcy; grandchildren, Brad Johnson and wife Kristie and Cole Nash; great grandchildren, Kaylie and Kamden Johnson; along with a special cousin, Sue Bailey and husband Eddie. There will be a visitation for Buddy on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.
