Barbara Ann Hampton was born August 6, 1952, in Port Hueneme, California to the late Albert Jacobs, Sr. and Annie Mozell Phillips Jacobs. She departed this life on February 13, 2024, at Baptist Health Drew in Monticello, Arkansas surrounded by her family.
She graduated from Drew High School with the Class of 1970. While there she was a member of the cheerleading squad and prom queen her senior year. After high school, she completed her LPN license at Great Rivers Vo-Tech in McGehee, Arkansas. From there she worked at Drew Memorial Home Health for 25 years before her retirement. Later she moved to Pine Bluff where she worked at McFarland Eye Clinic before her health failed.
Barbara Ann accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age. She later joined Holmes Chapel Presbyterian Church in Monticello. Although her health did not allow her to attend often, her faith in God never wavered. Barbara Ann married Elvin Hamilton and to this union, two children were born. Later in life, she met and married Melvin Hampton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert Jacobs, Sr. (Catherine) and Annie Mozell Jacobs; three aunts; one uncle; and a stepson. Barbara Ann leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Melvin Hampton; son, Kelvin Hamilton, Sr. (Kristi); daughters, Johnna Kay Bealer (Barry), Farjarie Hampton, and Felicia Fulton (Travis); eight grandchildren, Amber, Kelsea, Kelvin, Jr (Alishia), Tyron (Tia), Tyrese, Evan, Jazzmine, and Nia; five great-grandchildren, Ma'Siyah, Malik, Ta'Lynn, Tobais, and Kaiden; brothers, Carl Jacobs (Brenda), Albert Jacobs, Jr., and Robert Jacobs; one sister, Amanda Matthews (George); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
