Sammie Lee Ridgell Gragg was born on August 20, 1939, in Monticello, AR to Robinzine Suber Ridgell and Walter Thomas Ridgell, Sr. She transitioned this life on February 17, 2024. She devoted her life to Christ at an early age at Shady Grove A.M.E. and Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church. As an adult, she served as a stewardess and usher at Strangers Rest A.M.E. and later at Mt. Pleasant A.M.E. (Campgound) Church. She attended Monticello Drew Public School. She was united in Holy Matrimony to A.O. Gragg on December 15, 1955. She was employed at Levi Shirt Factory in Star City, AR, Jack Winters in Warren, AR, and Area Agency of Aging of Southeast Arkansas in Monticello, AR. She enjoyed sewing, painting her nails, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and watching her shows (Wheel of Fortune, Soap Operas, and daytime talk shows). She is preceded in death by her husband, A.O. Gragg; two sons, Michael Lee Gragg and Stephen Ray Gragg; one brother, James Henry Ridgell; and parents, Walter Sr. and Robinzine Ridgell. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Deborah Faye Bolden (Lloyd) of Little Rock, AR, Margarett Ann Wolfe of Dumas, AR, Dwight Gragg of Monticello, AR; brother and sisters, Verdis Brown (James) of Milwaukee, WI, Walter Ridgell, Jr. (Maryland) of Monticello, AR, Velma Martin of Milwaukee, WI, Horace Ridgell (Mabel) of Monticello, AR, Lynder Hubbard (Larry) of Pensacola, FL; son in law, Clyde Wolfe; daughters in law, Roselinda Gragg and Mary Thorne Gragg; sixteen grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; childhood friends, Ira B. Watkins, and Sarah Ridgell; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Visitation will be Friday, February 23, 2024 from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Burial will follow in Campground/ Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.
