J.R. Martin, age 75 of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, at his home in Monticello. He was born May 17, 1949, in Mississippi. He enjoyed the outdoors working in his garden, sitting on his front porch, fishing, and visiting with his friends. J.R. is survived by his wife, Ethel Mae McQuiston Martin of Monticello; three stepdaughters, Samantha Berry of Monticello, Sheila Brunt of Monticello, and Selena Collier of South Dakota; one sister, Barbara Young of Monticello; along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2024, with funeral services following at 11:00 a.m. at Second Baptist Church in Monticello. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Joshua Etheridge, Brandon Flemister, Gage Etheridge, Oscar Marin, Mark Etheridge, and Larsen Collier. Honorary Pallbearers will be Flat Top Carpenter and Jimmy Hales.
