Dorothy Imogene Chester Hooks, age 92 of Monticello, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Baptist Health Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. She was born May 5, 1932, in Yuma, Tennessee to the late George Luther Chester and Arie Mae Ogles Chester. She was the widow of Billy Wade Hooks, a retired factory worker and member of Halley Baptist Church. Mrs. Dorothy loved to go camping, shopping, working word puzzles but the most important thing she enjoyed was her church and spending time with her family. She also dearly loved to read and has read thousands of books. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by an infant twin son; siblings, W.L. Chester and Martha Sue Merchant and husband Kenneth; and a brother-in-law, Bob Kizer. She is survived by her children, Sandra Jean Hooks Burns Parmer and husband Glenn of Monticello and Mark Hooks and wife Paula of Monticello; one sister, Shirley Kizer of Collins; one grandchild, Michael Eric Burns and wife Blake of Monticello; sister-in-law, Wanda McKiever Chester; and a very special niece, Karen Kizer Delahouse. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 2024, at Halley Baptist Church in Halley, AR with Rev. James Kendig officiating. Burial will be in Halley Cemetery. There will be a visitation held immediately following the funeral service in the Church Fellowship Hall. Memorials may be made to the Halley Cemetery Association. Serving as pallbearers will be Glenn Parmer, John Hite, Troy Gray, Michael Burns, Bruce Kizer, Danny Delahouse, Rusty Merchant and Stan Chester. You can sign Mrs. Dorothy’s guestbook registry on this page. The family would like to issue a special "thank you" to the staff of Woodside Medical and Dr. Jim Carmical for their attentive care to our mother and for always being there for us.
