Rita Elaine Bates Stiles, age 80 of Wilmar, AR, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Drew Memorial Baptist Hospital in Monticello, AR. She was born January 2, 1944, in Nashville, TN to the late Roy Bates and Georgia Pearl Bass Bates.
She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse and member of Monticello Church of Christ. Mrs. Rita loved cooking, shopping, attending Church, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Ragsdale.
Survivors include her husband of 41 years (wed March 11, 1983), Walter Stiles of Wilmar; her three children, Richard L. Pope, Jr. and wife Mary of Sandy, UT, Gary M. Pope and wife Lorrie of Nashville, TN, Alison E. Doss and husband Tim of Green Hill; grandchildren, Shane Bronson, Bradley Townsley, Amanda Pope and Bailey Pope all of Salt Lake City, UT and Mitchell Pope of Nashville, TN, Alicia Doss of Malvern and Sarah Baker of Alexander, AR; along with numerous great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Friday, December 13, 2024, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Chapel. Funeral Services will be Saturday, December 14, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.
