Daniel Hewey “DH” Forrest, age 75, of Monticello, Arkansas passed away Monday, December 16, 2024, at Baptist Health in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born November 13, 1949, in Monticello to the late Daniel “Mitt” and Helen Parker Forrest. At the age of 10, he started logging with his dad, Mitt, with chainsaws and horses. In June of 1980, he started DH Forrest Logging, which he successfully turned into a thriving multigenerational business. DH was an active member of Rose Hill Free Will Baptist Church and showed everyone his love for his savior Jesus Christ. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed working on his antique cars. He served his country and was a veteran of the US Army where he received a Purple Heart for his service in the Vietnam War. But his most favorite past time of all was spending time with his loving wife and family.
In addition to his parents, DH is preceded in death by one brother, Henry Lee Forrest; and two sisters, Janice Sims and Delores Bryan.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dianne Ply Forrest; three daughters, Rhonda Miles and husband Mar, Jennifer Pace and husband Keith, and Jessica Jackson and husband Bert all of Monticello; nine grandchildren, Kylee Caldwell husband Bradley, Preston Arrington, Kensley Young, Kayla Arrington, Tarren Young, TJ Young, Cooper Arrington, Noah Jackson, and Naomi Jackson; three great grandchildren, Lennon, Tatum and Colsen Caldwell; four brothers, Gary Forrest, David Forrest, Robert Forrest and Tony Forrest; four sisters, Flo Coldicott, Edith Herring, Audrey Williams and Linda Howell; as well as many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday December 19, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel.
