Jeffrey Paul Pinson of Hermitage, Arkansas passed away on January 18, 2025 in Bradley County, AR at the age of 63. Jeffrey was born on December 17, 1961 in San Diego, California to the late Jerry Royce Pinson and Darise Pinson. A leader in his community, Jeff loved to help anyone he could and took it upon himself to stand up for those who couldn’t. He always emphasized the importance of prayer and being close to God.
Jeff grew up in the projects of Hot Springs, Arkansas where he learned, at an early age, to stand up for himself and his family. Later, Jeff moved south to Crossett, Arkansas to live with his Aunt Virginia, Uncle Roy and cousins Shelly and Bryan, whom he considered close and dear family. It is the time spent with them that he credits his understanding of what a loving and healthy family should be like.
Jeff would return to Hot Springs for a time and eventually move to Odessa, Texas where he began his career in the oilfield.
Jeff had quite the reputation in the oilfield, and in time, he would become a reverse unit operator and then a fisherman, for which he was well-known. Through the formation of his own oil company, Pinson Fishing Tools, Inc., Jeff would go on to independently contract his fisherman services. He was the best fisherman in all of the Permian Basin and was sought after by many oil companies, large and small, for his expertise and efficiency. There was once an explosion of oil and gas for which a high ranking oil man called in numerous service trucks and specialty oil service contractors. To a scene of chaos and disarray, Jeff arrived with a solution and needed only one pump truck to stop the gush of oil and the well was quickly stabilized. This is only one of many instances where Jeff excelled in his field.
It was there in Odessa that Jeff would meet his wife, Jackie, whom he would have three beloved children with: Christopher, Shawn, and Ashley. Though differences caused them to part, he would always love her. He couldn’t love someone deeply and later stop loving them he said.
When he wasn’t working, he loved riding four wheelers and his dune buggy in the Sandhills of west Texas, and he was also a skilled horseman who enjoyed riding exceptionally spirited horses. He was a fantastic welder and built many useful structures independently.
Jeff’s great success in life allowed him to retire earlier than most and he longed to live again in the beautiful state of Arkansas. There he enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on various projects, spending time with friends, family and for many years, his close companion Kim Roberts. He truly cared for his community and helped wherever he was needed.
Jeff made an indelible impression on the lives of those he touched, and the effects of his love and kindness will always be remembered.
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Darise Williams; father, Jerry Pinson; and beloved aunt, Virginia Hornbuckle. He is survived by his sister, Sydney Cooper of Mabelvale; brother, Jerry ‘Chip’ Pinson, Jr., of Mabelvale; sons, Christopher Pinson of Houston, and Shawn Pinson of Abilene; daughter and son-in-law, Ashley and Harrison Roy of Houston; cousin and his daughter, Bryan Hornbuckle of Mabelvale, AR, and Ruby Hornbuckle of Little Rock, AR; cousin and her daughter, Shelly Workman and Addison Dean of Pine Bluff, AR; uncle, Roy Hornbuckle of Crossett, AR.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with a visitation one hour before the service from 10:00-11:00 a.m. You can sign Jeffrey's guestbook registry on this page.
