Carolyn Jane Hand Wilson, age 89, of Monticello, Arkansas, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at Belle View Nursing and Rehab. She was born March 9, 1936, in Hot Springs, AR to the late William Louie Hand, Sr. and Hazel Vanpelt Hand of North Little Rock, Arkansas. Carolyn was a licensed cosmetologist and owned Carolyn’s Beauty Shop in Dermott for over twenty years. She served twelve terms for a total of twenty-four years, as a member of Dermott City Council. She loved singing, hunting arrowheads, drawing and painting but, her greatest love was watching the Arkansas Razorbacks football and basketball teams.
Carolyn graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1954 and was a majorette and assistant drum majorette during those years. She was a member of the Dermott Church of Christ and had lately attended the Church of Christ in Monticello.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Dr. Thomas C. Wilson; two children, Vickie Morgan Cater Newton and Andy Morgan; sister, Doris Hand McClanahan; and brother, William Louie Hand, Jr. Survivors include one son, David Wilson and wife Paula of Monticello, Arkansas; one daughter, Kim Binns and husband Mark of Star City, Arkansas and daughter, Julie Hayes and husband James of Tillar, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, April 15, 2025, from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home in Monticello. Graveside services will follow in Dermott Cemetery.
