Mary L. Reed Wilkes, 82 of Monticello, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Arkansas Heart Hospital in Little Rock. She was born July 21, 1926.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Smedia Wilkes,Sr. on March 29, 2009. Mrs. Mary was a homemaker and was preceded in death by one son, Vance Wilkes and one daughter, Linda Wilkes.

Survivors include six sons, Smedia Wilkes, Jr. and wife, Barbara of St. Louis, MO, Garnett Wilkes of Monticello, Cleolen Wilkes of Oak Part, IL, Leonard Wilkes and wife, Sonja of Lynnwood, IL, Mark Wilkes and Timothy Wilkes, both of Monticello; five daughters, Mary J. Thompson and husband, Louis of Monticello, Dorothy Kinnebrew and husband, Alvin of Marietta, GA, Bennie Lenear of Houston, TX, Pat Nelson of Monticello and Shirley Tucker and husband, Geneo of Sherwood, AR; one brother, Otis Reed of Chicago, IL; three sisters, Della Thompson and Betty Reed, both of California and Gladys Cobbs of Monticello; loving grands, great-grands, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
