William L. Waller, 84 of Selma, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born June 25, 1925 in Crigler, AR.
He was a retired saw filer from Selma Timber Company, World War II, U. S. Navy Veteran and a member of Selma Baptist Church. His ship, the U.S.S. CALVERT, was awarded the Navy Unit Commendation Award, with four stars, for the following operations: Marshall Islands Operations, Capture and Occupation of Saipan and Tinian, Leyte Landings and Lingayen Gulf Landing. He was the son of the late Benjamin H. Waller and Cecil "Cebo" Hildebrand Waller and was preceded in death by one brother, Dewey Waller and one sister, Marie Waller Coddington.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Betty Hamilton Waller of Selma; one daughter, Trudy Waller Jackson and husband, James, of Monticello; one brother, Richard Waller and wife, Nina, of McGehee; one grandson, Rusty Jackson and wife, Ericka, of Port Huron, Michigan; one granddaughter, Tracy Jackson of Memphis, TN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
