Joe Matthews, age 81 of Pine Bluff, AR, died July 1. He was born May 26, 1934, in Texarkana, TX. He was the son of the late Joseph Simpson and Tommie Ouida Nichols Matthews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, and his brother, Tommy, as well as his parents.

He graduated from Monticello High School, and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He worked in the theater business for many years, spending over 30 years in the Pine Bluff area in the theater business.

He grew up in the First Presbyterian Church in Monticello where his parents and grandparents before him were members.

He is survived by his nephew, Bynum, his niece, Ann, his sister-in-law, Pat, and his faithful caregiver, Cathy Chandler.

Graveside services will be in Monticello on Sunday, July 5 at 4 p.m. He will be laid to rest in a family plot in Oakland Cemetery in Monticello. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
