Virginia Davis Johnson passed away on July 28, 2015. She was 99 years of age. Virginia was born on July 2, 1916, in Wilmar, Arkansas. Her parents were Coleman Robert Davis and Ollie Hilliard Davis. Her brothers were Coleman Rolla Davis, Keller Hilliard Davis, Dr. Calvin Grier Davis, and Clair Morris Davis. All preceded her in death. She was married to Charles Eager Johnson, son of Dr. and Mrs. Charles D. Johnson, on August 24, 1938. He preceded her in death in December, 1970.

She is survived by her daughters, Virginia Claire Johnson-Harrison (George), Patricia Ann Rhodes (Marty), Jane Grier Brown (Fred), and Elizabeth Coleman Auchterlonie (Steve). Her son Charles Davis Johnson (Gay) is deceased. Six Grandchildren: Claire Kohler (Adam), Elizabeth Jackson (Douglas), Robin Casteel (Rachel), Angie Brown, Bella Brown, all of Little Rock and John Rhodes of Houston. Four great-grandchildren: Davis and Emma-Stewart Kohler; and Lilly and Virginia Claire Jackson of Little Rock. Nephews: Dr. Calvin Grier Davis, Jr. of Asheville, NC, James McDowell Davis of Barnardsville, NC, and Claire Morris Davis of Austin, TX, as well as beloved great nephews and nieces.

Virginia and Charles reared their family in her childhood home in Monticello, which was a gathering place all through the years for relatives. All of her family were active Presbyterians. She taught Sunday school, sponsored youth groups, was a lifetime member of the women of the church and served as a deacon and an elder. She served as President of the Junior Auxiliary and was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader. She was the ultimate Razorback fan. Virginia was a graduate of A&M College in Monticello, AR. She was a devoted and beloved teacher; she taught kindergarten at her home and had a 22 year career as a first grade teacher at W.C. Whaley Elementary School. She was the last family member to leave Drew County since her ancestors settled in Saline community in 1860.

Memorial service will be at 10:30am at Second Presbyterian Church of Little Rock on Monday, August 3, followed by a reception.
