Virginia Nell Lytle Thomas, 84, of Monticello passed away, July 28, 2015 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. She was born on November 26, 1930 to the late E.H. and Alva Lack Lytle in Drew County.
Throughout her life she enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, University of Arkansas sports, politics, sewing, quilting and crafts. She was certified as a Master Gardener and won awards for her needlework.
She was an active member of the Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary until her health caused her to retire. She was named outstanding member of the auxiliary in 2007. Nell also took great pleasure in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include one son, Ray Thompson and wife Marilyn of Tyler, TX; one sister, Laverne Lytle Quimby of Monticello; one nephew, Kerry Hackney of Monticello; two grandsons, Eric Ryan Thompson and wife Elyse of Denver, CO and Brian Lytle Thompson and wife Erin of Gurnee, IL; three great-grandchildren, Chase, Reid and Miller; two cousins, Ann Lytle Rabb and Ronnie Lytle both of Monticello; and a special thank you to her caregiver, Debra Williams of Monticello.
Funeral service will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 31 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Drew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 778 Scogin Dr., Monticello, AR 71655.
