Billy Gene McGough age 90, died Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Woods Nursing Home in Monticello. He was born March 8, 1925 to Marvin and Lela McGough of Monticello.
He graduated from Monticello High School, and also received a degree from Arkansas A & M (now UAM). He served his country in World II. Billy was married to Mae Boyd McGough for 55 years. After retiring from Burrough Computer Services out of Houston, TX they moved to Hot Springs where he continued his love of fishing. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on January 30, 1971, serving as an elder in the congregation. He loved talking to people about the truth he learned from the Bible in the ministry work Jehovah’s Witnesses are well known for. He loved showing hospitality and while doing so enjoyed sharing his many life experience.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Lela McGough; his wife, Mae McGough; two sisters, Esther Riley and Vera Jordan; his brother, Luther McGough; three nephews, Terry Funderburg, Jerry Riley and Juan Jordan and two nieces, Roxie Crow and Sandy Willis.
Survivors include two sisters, Louise Funderburg of Monticello and Marzee Brookings of Mountain Home; one son, Ronald Adams and wife Paula and granddaughter, Rhonda Porter and husband Jerry all of Spring, Texas; two nephews, Jim Jordan and wife Dot of Saint Marys, Georgia and David Funderburg and wife Sandy of Monticello; one niece, Kathy Lou Engelkes and husband Ricky also of Monticello; two great-granddaughters and grand nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held, at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2061 Hwy 425 North in Monticello. Arrangements by Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
