Ruthie Lee Scruggs, 86 of Little Rock, formerly Warren passed away November 18, 2015 in Little Rock. She was born September 7, 1929, in Warren, AR. She was one of eight siblings, Ella, Mozelle and Samuel Higgins, D.C. Frankin II, Corine, Georgia Mae and Birdell Patton.
She was preceded in death by seven siblings and one son, Gerald Scruggs. She attended school and lived most of her life in Warren, AR. Ruthie made a dedication to Jehovah and symbolized it by water baptism on Dec. 4, 1955. She was well known in Warren and the surrounding areas for her diligent efforts in the ministry and meetings.
Ruthie retired from Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center in Warren, AR, in 1995. She was issued a certificate from former governor, Bill Clinton, in recognition of her hard work at the center. She enjoyed gardening, handcrafts, traveling, sewing and loved to dress.She attended many notable international conventions. One of the most memorable of all was the 1978 International Convention of Jehovah Witnesses at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, HI where over 8500 delegates were present.
She is survived by her daughters, Gwendolyn Scruggs of Jacksonville, AR, Loretta Scruggs of St. Louis, MO, Cassandra Scruggs and Charlotte Jones, both of Little Rock, AR; one grandson, Sedaka Brown of Los Angeles, CA; a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 25 at Jehovah’s Witnesses, 300 East Pine St, Warren with burial to follow in Union Cemetery in Warren.
