Houston Lefay Barnett, age 76 of Dermott, passed away Friday, February 5, 2016 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born March 16, 1939 in Drew County to the late Sam Barnett and Annie Mae Holdcraft Barnett.

He was a retired farmer and of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five sisters, Mattie Adcock, Beatrice Huff, Erla Mae Langston, Brooksie Bostian and Annie Lee Lytle.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley Miller Barnett of Dermott; one son, Jeriamy Lefay Barnett and wife Heather of Ft. Polk, LA; three daughters, Carla Miller and husband David of Warren, Carol Graham of Halley and son in law Ray Graham of Portland and Sheila Prescott and husband L. D. of Portland; three brothers, Carl Barnett of McGehee, Huey Barnett of Monticello and Dale Barnett of Indianola, MS; two sisters, Virginia Akines of McGehee and Mary LaCotts of Watson; nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Rash Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
