Owen Michael “Mike” Pace, age 65 of the Green Hill Community, passed away suddenly March 16, 2016 at his home in Green Hill. He was born December 30, 1950 in Monticello, AR to Leola Owen Pace and the late Edward L. “Bo” Pace.
Mike was a construction worker, a graduate of UAM with a B.S. Degree in Speech and attended Green Hill United Methodist Church. He was a person who everyone wanted as a friend and one who had a true Samaritan heart. He never met anyone who was beneath him and, when he saw bad circumstances, he would do everything in his power to help. His home became the “Community Coffee House” where everyone would gather to discuss politics, interesting life events or even just the plain “bull” of the day. Mike enjoyed his family and bragging on his Native American grandchildren and daughter, Tiffany. Mike loved children and wanted to make a difference in their lives and give them the experiences and love that his parents gave him growing up.
Survivors include his wife Carolyn Gambill Pace of Green Hill; two daughters, Tiffany Pace Williams and husband Michael of Puyallup, WA and Heather Carter and husband Joseph of Monticello; two sons, Andrew Sanders and wife Christi of Crossett and Kennon Wrench of Hawaii; his mother, Leola Owen Pace of the Green Hill Community; one brother, Mark Pace and wife Chris of Monticello; four sisters, Roxanne Karnes and husband Chuck of Monticello, Rachel Pace of the Green Hill Community, Susan Wishard and husband Rodney of Monticello and Sally Smith and husband B.J. of Jonesboro; nine grandchildren, Tommy, Neala, Nicholas, Nathaniel, Calely, Sammi, Amber, Cassidy and Mattie; one great-grandson, Konnor; five aunts, Louise Barnes, May Hobbs, Fay Wiggam and husband Don, Cleora Crook and Jean Owen; and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Johnson and Rev. Joe Kaiser officiating. Family visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to Gideon’s International, P O Box 35, Monticello, AR 71655 or Green Hill United Methodist Church, c/o Roxanne Karnes, 198 South Bowser Road, Monticello, AR 71655.
