Marilyn Laverne Hogue Jefferson, 59, of Monticello passed away July 6, 2016, at her home. She was born May 23, 1957, in Monticello to the late Albertine and Willie Lee Lane. She confessed her hope in Christ at an early age and united with Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of John Plummer. She was baptized in 1971. Marilyn attended Drew Central and Monticello High schools. After high school, she worked at Burlington and various jobs.
Marilyn was joined in holy matrimony to Kelvin Jefferson, Sr. in April 1981 until her departure. Shortly after her marriage, they welcomed their first and only child, Kelvin Jefferson, Jr.
Shortly afterwards, Marilyn moved to Little Rock, AR, where she furthered her education at Eastern College for nursing. After college, she begin her career in health care. This line of work was a perfect job for her because she loved to help others. She was very family oriented. She had a smile that would brighten up the darkest room.
Marilyn then relocated to Milwaukee, WS, where she would raise her family. She called Milwaukee home until her health begin to fail. She was a member of New Beginning World Ministry under the leadership of Pastor Dr. Margaret Stone. Marilyn returned home to Monticello where she joined Zion Hill M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. Leroy Hood until she was called home. She was preceded in death by one sister, Rosie Lee Correll.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband, Kelvin Jefferson, Sr. of Monticello, AR; two sons, Kelvin (KC) Jefferson, Jr. of Monticello, AR, and Roderick Daniels of Benton, AR; a special son, Darius Thomas; one sister, Connie Louise Johnson of Monticello, AR; three brothers, Cornelius Brooks and Frederick (JoAnn) Daniels, both of Monticello, AR, and Alfred R. Daniels of Little Rock, AR; two granddaughters, Ke’Liah Denay and Ko’rrine Marie Jefferson; one grandson, Cameron Daniels; five uncles, James Douglas, Al Wesley Adams, Robert Douglas, Dalton Adams and Micheal Adams of Little Rock, AR; one aunt, Edna Allen of Monticello, AR; and a host of relatives and friends.
