Zachary Len Jones, age 20 of Monticello, passed away Monday, July 25, 2016 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born July 31, 1995 in Alexandria, LA. He was a skidder operator for L. D. Long, Inc. and was of the Southern Baptist faith. Zachary enjoyed hunting, fishing, mud riding and big trucks. He was a volunteer fire fighter for Garnett Fire Department and the U.S. Forest Service wildland fire fighters. He dearly loved his family and friends and always making people smile. Survivors include his father, Walter Jones and girlfriend, Rachel Sheppard of Youngsville, LA; his mother, Becky VanMatre of Berwick, LA; two sisters, Amber Jones of Natchitoches, LA and Morgan Jones of Youngsville, LA; two grandmothers, Charlotte Jones of McGehee and Ann Myers of Bayou Vista, LA; his great-grandmother, Lona Myers of Bayou Vista, LA; the love of his life, Caitlin Smith of Star City; his Nanny, Carla Jones and Uncle Steve; his aunts and uncles, Billy, Mark and Sherry VanMatre, Adria Bergeron and Judy Wiehe and husband Carl; cousins, Kyle Monk, Mandi Little and husband Matthew, Tanner and Griffin Rachal, Dylan and Dustin VanMatre and Serenity Saunders; nephews, Tristen Metoyer and Houston Aranda; and a niece, Kambree Aranda. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carl Jones (Papaw) and Bill VanMatre (Grandpa). Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, July 28, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
