Emma Carolyn Burris Barnes, age 79 of Van Buren, formerly of Monticello, went to be with her Lord Monday, August 22, 2016 at Peach Tree Care Unit in Van Buren. She was born February 20, 1937 in Russelleville, AR to the late Rev. William David Burris and Emma Boals Burris.
She was owner of The Gift of Love Bible Book Store in Monticello for 30 years and was a long-time member of the First Assembly of God Church. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Mrs. Barnes’ passion was to give the word of God to others as she gave hundreds of Bibles away to those that needed them. She was a very gifted Sunday school and Bible study teacher and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband Bob Barnes of Van Buren; one daughter, Diane Barnes Waganer and husband Mike of Van Buren; one son, Rev. Robert David Barnes and wife Sharon of Rowlett, TX; three grandchildren, Amber Simon, Justin Blake Smith and Jeremy Barnes; three great grandchildren, Liam, Aedan and Rylan Simon; and a very special friend, Coralea Epps.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Union Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to service time Friday.
