Patsy Ruth Bartholomew Belknap passed away at home December 30, 2016.
She passed peacefully with her husband at her side. She was born in Manila, Arkansas, September 18, 1933. Her parents were George Curtiss Bartholomew and Ella (Bounds) Bartholomew. She was preceded in death by her parents and her only sister Jane (Bartholomew) Shelton. She is survived by her husband Charlie W Belknap of Monticello and her three children, James Steven Belknap and his wife Rebecca; Susan Belknap Feeser, and husband Rusty; David Wayne Belknap and his wife Karen. She is also survived by 4 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Pat was a Christian from her 12th year of age to her death. She served with her minister husband as a pastor’s wife for nine years. She was a grade School Sunday School teacher for 30 years. She was a Girls Auxiliary for 10 years in different Baptist churches. She did Secretarial work tor Arkansas Children’s Home, Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville Kentucky, and First Baptist Church in Monticello, Arkansas. Pat served as a Drew Memorial Hospital volunteer aid for a total of 4,485 hours. Pat took care of her elderly Mother, Ella from 1977 to 1980. She managed the financial, medical, and personal needs of her mother-in-law, Louise Belknap from 1980 until 1997. Pat was a quiet, shy person. She quietly went about serving her church and community with her quiet shy personality. She taught one adult male how to read through the Lauback program.

Pat attended Blue Mountain Baptist Girls College out of Albany, Mississippi for three years. She married and finished her Bachelor’s Degree in 1955 at Ouachita University. She worked and helped put her husband through a Master’s Degree in Theology in 1959 and worked and helped him earn a Master’s Degree in Social Work in 1991.

She would not have wanted recognition of her contributions. She was shy and did not want attention. Her husband thought it would be good for all to notice the quiet shy Christians going about their faithful service to their church and community.

Services are planned at Stephenson-Dearman Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. In place of flowers, please send Memorial Gifts to Arkansas Baptist Children’s Homes, 601 W.
