Robert Cole Baxter, age 77, passed away in his sleep after an extended battle with Leukemia on Thursday, January 5th, 2017.

Robert (Bob) was born on January 21, 1939 in Monticello, Arkansas. He was the only son to William Earl Baxter and Kathleen Cole Baxter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Elizabeth Irene Baxter. He is survived by his loving wife, Camilla Harmon Baxter, his daughter, Lesley (Mark) Bonds, his son, Kenneth (Donna) Baxter and two grandchildren, JT and Laura Bonds.

Bob graduated from Monticello High School and attended Vanderbilt University on a Merit Scholarship where he graduated Cum Laude with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He served in the Army, achieving the rank of Captain. Bob worked for the DuPont Chemical Company for 32 years and Lucite International for 10 years. His work with DuPont and Lucite had the family living in Orange, TX, Wilmington, DE, and Germantown, Tennessee. After retiring from Lucite, Bob had a consulting Engineering Business where he worked as a Professional Engineer in the states of Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Bob was an active member of Emanuel United Methodist Church, in Memphis, TN, for 30 years where he sang and traveled with the choir. The choir performed in the International Choir Festival in London, England as well as Carnegie Hall in NYC and toured in Greece. After moving to Lake Saint Louis, MO in 2010, Bob sang with the Lake Saint Louis Choral Arts Singers as well as the Wentzville United Methodist Church Choir.

Besides music, Bob loved being outdoors, fishing, boating, and bird watching. No matter where he was living, he had several favorite fishing holes nearby. His move to Lake Saint Louis, MO gave him and his wife Camilla their “dream” fishing location which was their home on the lake with his fishing boat in their backyard. There he was able to share his love of fishing with his two grandchildren who spent almost every summer day on the lake with “Grandbob and Milla”.

Bob was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend that will be dearly missed. His wife and family were always the highest priority in his life and his greatest love. We will not be able to look at his favorite chair without seeing him work a crossword or Sudoku puzzle while looking out over the lake with his morning coffee.
