Mavis Lawson Mitchell, age 86 of Star City, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2017 in Benton, AR. She was born April 19, 1930 in Drew County, AR to the late Albert Marvin Lawson and Myrtle Deal Lawson.

She was the widow of Thomas “Pete” E. Mitchell II, a homemaker and a Christian and member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Star City. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin E. Lawson, Johnny Bert Lawson and Monroe Morrell Lawson and one great-granddaughter, Kayleigh Grace Newton.

Survivors include one son, Thomas E. Mitchell III of Star City; three daughters, Nancy Cheryl Spade and husband Ray of Benton, Judy Mitchell Cross of Helena and Tammy J. Mitchell of Springdale; six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
