Tommy Wayne Funderburg, age 78 of Monticello, passed away March 12, 2017 at his home in Monticello. He was born March 8, 1939 in Crossett, AR to the late Tommy Elvin and Doris Pritchard Funderburg.
He was a United States Air Force veteran, having served in Korea and Vietnam, a retired insurance agent for American General Insurance Company, a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the Lions Club. He was also a member and Deacon of Second Baptist Church in Monticello. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his brother, Don Funderburg.
Survivors include his wife, Jerry Ann Banister Funderburg of Monticello; two daughters, Melinda (Mendy) Carol Bickford and husband Don of Monticello and Jacqueline (Jackie) Sue Johnson and husband Guy of Aurora, CO; grandchildren, Benjamin Cowling and wife Kristin and Brandon Cowling and wife Shay both of Monticello, Shasta and Bailee Johnson of Aurora, CO; great-grandchildren, Madyson Cowling, Braydon Cowling, Ian Bergeron, Luke Cowling and Bradlee Cowling; a brother Michael Elvin Funderburg of Huntsville, AL; and a very special sister-in-law, Pam Stephenson and husband Ray of Monticello; and some very special caregivers, Arkansas Hospice, Area Agency on Aging, Peggy Bardley, Emily Howard, Mrs. Essie, Mrs. Thelma and Mrs. Diane.
Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with Rev. Ray Hearron officiating. Burial will be in Lone Sassafras Cemetery with Full Military Honors.
