Barbara L. Morgan Manues Abernathy, age 84 of Monticello passed away, Friday, July 14, 2017 at her home. She was born August 26, 1932 in Attala Co., Kosciusko, Mississippi to the late Jessie Irby Morgan and Juanita Sweatt Morgan.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Harley Abernathy, daughter, Bethal York Sanders, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Earlene Jones, brothers, Paul Morgan, Clarence Morgan and Baby Morgan. She was a loving, caring, dedicated child care provider for 50+ years. Many of the children she helped raise have gone on to be professionals. She loved the Lord, Jesus Christ with all of her heart. She helped build the Pentecostal Church in Lake Village. She served the Lord there for 35 years, and continued her faithful service at The United Pentecostal Church of Monticello. “She is loved by Many” and will be greatly missed.
Survived by four daughters, Doris (Dottie) Manues Kellebrew and husband Glenn of Monticello, Carolyn A. Manues Hoerter and husband Robert of Milford, PA, Weaida F. Abernathy Garrison and husband Danny of Monticello, Mary Ruth Mitchell of Petersburg, TN; thirteen grandchildren, forty great-grandchildren and nineteen great-great-grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters, Erma L. Douglas of Oklahoma City, OK, Ennis H. Morgan of Monticello, AR, Lena P. Randle and husband Coleman (Buddy) of Monticello, AR, Irby E. (Pee Wee) Morgan of Fresno, CA, Jenell Sharp of Calera, AL, James W. Morgan and wife Susan of Monticello, AR; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, a host of friends and her Cherished Church Family, as well as her many “children” that she cared for and has become a part of her family.
