James Monroe Griffin, age 66 of Wilmar, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Drew Memorial Hospital in Monticello. He was born June 17, 1951 in Monticello, AR to the late Richard Andrew Griffin and Zola Bee Scroggins Griffin. James retired from Burlington Industries and was a member of East Side Baptist Church where he taught the Adult Sunday School Class. Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by two brothers, Richard Griffin and Glen Cowan; and his stepfather M.L. Glennon.
Survivors include his wife, Della Hobbs Griffin of Monticello; six sons, Richard Blake Griffin and wife Shannon of TN, Jimmy Griffin and wife Christy of Monticello, Donny Griffin wife Shannon of TN, Tim Griffin of Monticello, Anthony Hobbs and wife Mary of Selma, and Hogan Hobbs and wife Lori of Atlanta, TX; two daughters, Geralyn Miller of DeValls Bluff; Rhonda Mills of Selma; one brother, Billy Joe Griffin and wife Vickie of MS; two sisters, Betty Timmons of Dumas and Rose Stephens and husband Carl of Taylor; twenty grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and many others that called him “PaPa James”.
Psalms 127:3-5 – “Lo, children are a heritage of the Lord; and the fruit of the womb is His reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:”
Papa James was loved by many children because he gave them his time. They often talk of the coon hunts he took them on. His quiver was full.
