Gene “Bear” Veazey, Jr., 58 of Monticello passed away, January 4, 2018 at the Baptist Health Care in Little Rock. He was born in Houston, TX on November 8, 1959 to Gene Lavoy Veasey, Sr. and Betty Lawson Veazey.

He was a United States Marine veteran, a retired trucker and of the Methodist faith. He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Sarah Veazey and one sister, Janet Castle.

Survivors include two daughters, Juanita Veazey and Hannah Veazey both of Monticello; the mother of his children, Angela Lewis of Monticello and Paula Veazey of Monticello; his father, Lavoy Veazey, Sr. of Monticello; his mother Betty Lawson Veazey of Houston, Texas; one brother, Gene Lavoy Veasey II of Florida; one sister, Carol Veazey of Houston, Texas; two granddaughters, Claire Smith and Leigh Smith of Monticello.
