Bro. Alvernia Riley, age 83 of Monticello departed his earthly existence on February 8, 2018 at his home. He was born in Drew County on September 20, 1934 to the late Luther and Catherine Lane Riley.
Alvernia was a Baptist and confessed his hope and belief in Jesus Christ at an early age. He was a retired truck driver and enjoyed his quiet time watching television and being with his family.
In addition to his parents he was also proceeded in death by four brothers, Leslie, L.C., Charlie Lee and Tyree Riley; one sister, Ida Mae Binns; one daughter, Letha Riley; two sisters-in-law, two nephews and one niece.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 48 years, Atlean Daniels Riley; three sons, Melvin (Jamie) Riley of Monticello, Alvin Lee Riley of Lacey and Fred Williams of Marianna; one daughter, Angela (Maurice) Evans of Montrose; one brother, Esley Riley of Monticello; eleven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother-in-law, Eula Mae Daniels; two sisters-in-law, Willie Jean Sawyer and Lisa (Harold) Bell; three brothers-in-law, John (Deborah) Daniels, James Daniels and Damon Daniels.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at Stephenson-Dearman Chapel with burial to follow in Lacey Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday night at the funeral home. Online guestbook www.stephensondearman.com.
