Gloria Shaw Hicks, age 72 of Monticello, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 16, 2018 at her home. She was born September 28, 1945 to the late Kyle Shaw and Martha Banks-Shaw.
Gloria worked for many years as a dietary cook at the Monticello Country Club and Drew Memorial Hospital. She dedicated her life to Christ at an early age and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church. During the time of her illness she dedicated her life to Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Gloria married Donnell Hicks and to this union four children were born.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jacayla Hicks; and a brother, Augustus Shaw.
She leaves to cherish her memories her children whom she loved with all her heart, Eric (Pam) Hicks, Brenda Hicks Trotter, Shawn Hicks and Kevin (Renae) Hicks all of Monticello; six sisters, Evelyn Dorrough, Martha Coleman, Mary (Sanders) Hootsell, Brenda Shaw Henderson, Maryland Shaw, Debra (Cornelius) Bassett all of Monticello; two brothers, Tommy Shaw of California and Kyle Shaw, Jr. of Benton; eleven grandchildren, Ka’Symone, Parrish, Michallie, Erika, Eric, Shawn, Jatalia, Kevin Jr., Kristian, Kevionna, Kev’on; seven great-grandchildren; Tejon, Cadence, Cornelius Jr., Addyson, Zane, Kater and Kalia; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved Gloria unconditionally.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2018 at First Baptist Church with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery. Visitation 6:00-7:00 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Online guestbook at www.stephensondearman.com.
