Robert Joe “Bobby Joe” Montgomery, 80, of Monticello, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He was born October 19, 1933 in Drew County, the son of the late Joe Bolivar Montgomery and Mary Effie Mays Montgomery.
He was a retired pipeline foreman, U. S. Army Veteran and a member of Pauline Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason, belonging to the Wilmar Lodge and was a member of Operating Engineer Union #542. Bobby Joe was an avid quail hunter, fisherman and a big Razorback fan. He loved restoring antique cars of his era. He was a very loving husband, father, Pa, Pepaw and friend and also was a dog lover, loved telling stories and jokes. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Tray Hale; three brothers, Louis Montgomery, Norman Montgomery and Hollis Montgomery and six sisters, Jayme Trotter, Lenora Cunningham, Reba Huskey, Francis Mathis, Martha Jean Stephenson and Joyce Person.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Pebble Jean Ward Montgomery of Monticello; two sons, Robert E. Montgomery and wife, Kim and Keith Montgomery and wife, Terri, both of Monticello; two daughters, Diane Higgs and husband, Mark of Carlisle and Jennifer Clements and husband, Daren of Monticello; two sisters, June Stephenson of Brazoria, TX and Janice Kulbeth of Monticello; eight grandchildren, Byron, Sandi, Kelley Jo, Dustin, Kadi, Jude, Lucy and Will; four great grandchildren, Zoe, Cloe, Zayden, Daniel and Amelia.
