Mother Hewing accepted Jesus Christa as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Rev. W.H. King. She later became a member of the St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Melvin Harrison, Pastor. Mother Hewing served faithfully as a Mother of the Church until her health would not allow. She served her Lord and St. Ollie faithfully.
Mother Hewing retired from Automatic Vending of Arkansas after fifteen years of employment. In her leisure, she enjoyed working with her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed watching a good football game as a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, and a good basketball game (college and professional).
