Bertha Tucker Hewing was born in Monticello, Arkansas, the daughter of the late Lee Vester & Della Youngblood Tucker, on July 20, 1929. She was a 1949 graduate of Drew County Training School, where she served as Parliamentarian of her class. She was united in holy matrimony to the late, Earl Hewing.

Mother Hewing accepted Jesus Christa as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in the Morning Star Baptist Church under the leadership of the late, Rev. W.H. King. She later became a member of the St. Ollie Missionary Baptist Church, Rev. Melvin Harrison, Pastor. Mother Hewing served faithfully as a Mother of the Church until her health would not allow. She served her Lord and St. Ollie faithfully.

Mother Hewing retired from Automatic Vending of Arkansas after fifteen years of employment. In her leisure, she enjoyed working with her flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed watching a good football game as a die-hard Dallas Cowboy fan, and a good basketball game (college and professional). And most of all, she enjoyed making her famous "Peach Cobbler" for her children.

On Monday morning, May 12, 2014, at Drew Memorial Hospital Mother Hewing at the blessed age of 84, peacefully transitioned from this life to receive her eternal reward to be at rest.

Hutchins and Mattie T. Green; one brother, George "Doc" Tucker, and two nephews, Ramos Tucker and David Hutchins.
